No Knock Warrant!

Who is the GENIUS that thought of coupling a no knock warrant with the second amendment? Please give them some kind of idiot of the century award! They must keep Mein Kampf under their pillow!

The second amendment enshrines the unalienable right to protect ourselves and our property. You know, the right to bear arms. This in turn causes the ‘no knock’ warrant to be some kind of legalized murder. Sounds like something from Dr. Evil's imagination!

If you have the right to protect yourself and your property (I don’t need a piece of paper to tell me that by the way), then you might mistake the violent people breaking down your door to be criminals. Not everyone in America turns the other cheek - some people actually shoot intruders!

Just for kicks - let’s add to the mix the Fourth Amendment.

Here it is:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. "

Does a no knock warrant protect the security of the person or property? Or does it destroy the door and maybe cause a few people to be dead?

Does a no knock warrant seem reasonable assuming a presumption of innocence? Or does it treat everyone in the home as a criminal?

Please stop and think how stupid all of this is. If people are going to work for the government, maybe they should stop taking the oath to uphold the constitution. What's the point?

This is brought to you by the same people that thinks it’s OK for a teenager to get an abortion without parental consent, but they can’t be given an aspirin without their parent’s signature.

Iron Man (A-)

I was so excited when Iron Man came out. I am a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr. I have watched his career all the way from when Tough Turf came out in 1985. That was a really bad film but I knew from that film that he was destined for a fabulous future.

Arguably his best work was Chaplin. I believe that was the pinnacle of Downey's career. And then the drug stuff surfaced. It is a shame on one hand because after his drug habit became known he didn't get any good parts. But on the other hand, he may have turned out to be a better person through that whole mess. Let's face it, trials make us better people.

Finally he lands a leading role in a Marvel Comic movie. I am so proud of him!

I originally thought that maybe someone was taking a risk on him and this would be some low budget loser of a film, but I was wrong. This is a fantastic film.

Downey plays Tony Stark of Stark Industries. He is a weapons architect of sorts that takes a trip to the Middle East somewhere and gets captured by terrorists. During his capture he gets the idea for the Iron Man prototype and escapes. During his three-month visit he decides not to focus on designing military weapons anymore. This decision turns out to be the driving thrust of the film.

The film has a super cast. Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard all do wonderfully. Be prepared for action, comedy, and even a possible love interest.

Parents - It may be PG but exercise discretion.

JourneyMan! (B+)

I just finished the first and only season of Journeyman this week.

Kevin McKidd  stars in this television series as a time traveling angel of sorts. He finds himself mysteriously transported to other times within the last 50 or so years within the San Francisco area to help people. This ability was thrust upon him against his will, but he takes to it like a duck to water and finds that it isn‘t a curse as one might suspect.

During his flings back in time he can be transported back to his current date in San Francisco which is 2007. In the presenet he does research to see how he can help out his targets by seeing if their life turns out well or not. Thanks to the internet! If things are still bad, he knows he will probably be transported back again to finish the job.

I really liked it. The story line moved right along from week to week. The subplots were almost as good as the main story line.  Keeping his secret isn't very easy which makes this series very easy to watch!

Check it out on hulu.
