Atheism - Contempt prior to investigation! (11/25/2007 05:10)
I have been listening to Ayn Rand's "Philosophy, who needs it?" off and on now for a few weeks. She is very smart and her arguments seem very logical. The reason I chose this book, is because I have noticed that a lot of preachers endeavor to refute her philosophy. It is interesting to me that some consider her a threat to the Christian community. As I see it, she simply hasn't investigated Christianity and rejects it out of hand. Which all people do that until they get saved. It is normal. This is simply contempt prior to investigation.

I was on the bandwagon of 'the bible is a copy of a copy' for years. The church I was going to couldn't defend the faith either. It was frustrating because I was having supernatural experiences, and the people in church told me these experiences were of the devil and to stop having them. Like I could control it! I left the church because they couldn't explain to me all of this supernatural stuff that was going on in my life. Let's face it, most of the people in church go to the building for the wrong reasons. They don't even read their bibles! I know people now who go to church and don't read their bibles. And then there are those who let their eyes glide over every letter, but they actually don't let the teachings sink in. I went from the baptist church in a bunch of circles pretty much rejecting Christianity because of the way I was treated, going to hinduism, buddhism, spending a long time reading and exploring the new age stuff. I also hung out in scientology looking for answers there. Scientology seems to be different now. When I went it was more focused on mental health than anything, and then it took some strange turn after I left. The new age movement and scientology seemed to help explain the supernatural experiences I would have like astral projection and so forth. However even these I found to be somewhat lacking in truth.

There came a day when all came full circle. God revealed Himself to me! It was like my own personal road to Damascus experience. At that point I started soaking up all I could regarding the authenticity of the bible. I read books like "The signature of God" and "The handwriting of God" by Grant Jeffrey. I also read some of Josh Mc Dowell's books.

IN the beginning of my search for the truth I was asking the wrong people the right questions. If you want to learn how to cook, you don't ask a waiter to teach you, you ask the chef! I was asking sheep shepherd questions! What is funny is that when I was a child I thought that grown ups had all the answers. I didn't question them. So I assumed that grown ups in church had all the answers. When I matured, I found out that adults are just as lost as the kids! So if you have questions, ask the right people the right questions.

Now when I think of atheists like Ayn Rand, I know they simply have contempt prior to investigation. If they are seeking the truth they won't stop until they get there.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Anger! (11/23/2007 01:00)
Why do we get angry? How do we handle anger?

I think people get angry when their so called rights are violated. As a matter of fact, I am angry right now. I know the bible says to not let the sun go down on my wrath. I know that being angry doesn't pay off at all. But just snapping my fingers and getting out of angry mode is not that easy. Being the opportunist that I am, I arrived at some questions.

What is my right anyway? Where do I get the idea that I have any rights? If Jesus says to turn the other cheek when we are offended, and if we are to be dead to sins, then technically nothing should offend us. So I guess that means we are dead to our possessions. And that is what I am angry about. My possessions, as few as they may be, have been violated. This makes me angry. Or rather is anger the emotion I chose to cling to in this situation? I think I chose the emotion of anger. I lashed out. I had one of those experiences of anger where i almost left my body and said "My God, what is that guy down there doing? That isn't me!"

So now I am in the mode of trying to get out of the angry mood. Because after all is said and done. Things are really fine. I can't see any legitimate reason to stay angry. Being angry profits nothing. it is a big waste of time. However, the person that committed the crime is unrepentant. And that is hard for me to deal with. I went ahead and had ought with my neighbor, and they will not say they are sorry, and they will not repent. So, what is a Christian to do? If I continued down this line of reasoning being angry, I would resort to the scriptures that say to shun them and have no more to deal with them. Honestly, it looks like according to the scriptures if a person like that doesn't repent you are to take it to two or three witnesses, and then the church and then ostracize them. But I don't want to embarrass them.

One thing that helps me get over being angry is to think of my shortcomings. I have offended others in the past. I have offended the person that I am angry with on many occasions. That certainly boxes me in to not taking any further action. So what is the course of action? Just get over it and move on right? Sounds right to me!

I guess i haven't matured enough to be exactly like Jesus. If I was like Jesus, i wouldn't mind letting a thief hold all of my money! the very same money that would be used to kill me later! Jesus had some very legitimate reasons to be angry. But instead, while He was so humiliatingly being violated, prays to the Father to forgive them, for they didn't know what they were doing.

Conclusion. When our emotions are wrong, we need to be thankful for the opportunity to work on ourselves.

Genesis, Playing cops, and the Dallas Cowboys! (11/18/2007 10:12)
I added a new podcast!

I was reading Genesis, and just wanted to record some of the thoughts that came up. Pretty interesting.

I think a guy could spend a lot of time just pondering over the first chapter of Genesis. A lot of mysteries are introduced there.

I played cop with my bro last night. It was awesome! How can he call that a job? All we did is ride around in a golf cart in an upscale area, and just basically talked. there was nothing going on. Oh yeah, we busted a couple of teenagers getting smoochy in on the top level of the parking lot! But that was as bad as it got.

I was thinking about how much he works and then i thought about how much fun he has. It doesn't seem like much edge, but he tells me that every once in a while he more than earns his check! Handling one bank robbery can bring all those slow moments up to speed. Anything can happen. and he doesn't really know when it is going to happen.

Right now i am watching Dallas play Washington. They are behind right now but we know that will change!

Go Dallas!

Escapism (11/18/2007 10:15)
I often have an aversion to being in the prison of the body. I want to escape sometimes, but then what?

Freedom from gravity, freedom from pain, freedom from lethargy... But then if a person escapes the human body, they escape the human experience. Why do you think demons want in? They desire to feel the things we can feel. So there must be something to this human experience, something that makes it worth having.

In order to appreciate happiness, one has to know what sadness and pain is. When one has a lot of sad and painful experiences, then they can really cherish the little moments in life, like having a dog sit on your lap when you watch a movie, or seeing a child taking its first few steps, or even just watching a red bird in a tree.

I find it interesting that when some people are thinking life is bad that they really don’t take the time to realize how good things are. Occasionally when I get down in the dumps I take a few moments to count my blessings. It sounds really corny, but it is so helpful. Do you realize that over half the planet lives on less than two dollars per day? That makes me think I am way over my budget! Half the planet has yet to make a phone call! Half the planet has yet to read my blog! Perish the thought!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be someone else? “If I was fill in the blank, then I wouldn’t have these problems”. If I were that some one else, then I would have missed out on the experiences and knowledge that make me who I am. Those people who seem to have glamorous lives are missing out in the essence that makes me who I am. Sure I would love to have some experiences that other people have had, but I wouldn’t trade the love that I have felt, the passion I have experienced, the knowledge I have gained, in order just to be someone else.

When people muse about being someone else, I believe they are simply exercising a form of escapism similar to that of watching a movie. So why not just put in a movie?

Musing further, I have often wondered why Owen Wilson attempted suicide. That guy just looks happy. He certainly seems to have a successful career. I just can’t fathom why he would be so depressed as to attempt suicide. Well, that reinforces my argument of being glad that I am who I am in spite of all my flaws and shortcomings.

I am only posting this because I feel that other people have wandered along these same lines of thought. Yes I know you are out there. Repent!

It’s time to change our minds. Our minds are our business and our responsibility alone. It is time to sweep out the cobwebs of iniquity, hose down those negative fires that destroy. It is time to look forward. Our eyes are on the front of our head so we can look forward while we plow our fields. If we swing our heads around to look back, then we can’t plow in a straight line. That is a pretty good clue to simply forget the past. Just carry the tools that we have picked up along the way.

So being a spirit having a human experience isn’t so bad after all. The uniqueness of being ourselves means that no one else can ever be who we are. We have the treasure of being unique individuals, with our experiences and the wisdom we take from them.

Well time to pop in a movie! Trading Places!

Enjoy the roller coaster of life!

Miami Cops arrest Street Preacher (11/18/2007 10:16)
I wanted to blog this because it is so shocking. I did a podcast with a mention of this recently and I would like for you to check it out.

Our liberties are being eroded so badly, that now officials who swear to uphold the constitution are now violating it.

In this video, this preacher is simply preaching in a public place, just like preachers have been doing since John the Baptist. OF course, the passers by got upset about someone talking about their sin. Finally the police arrest him.

Just watch the video for yourself. It speaks volumes.

Update (11/02/2007 12:14)
I haven’t been adding to the blog, because I have been under the weather. Last Tuesday I went to the doctor for a sore throat. It hurt so badly and I couldn’t swallow without grimacing in pain. I would fall asleep and then when I was finally asleep, I would swallow and it was so painful it would wake me up! Ouch!

I have another podcast in the works, but my throat is going to have to catch up. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! Prayers please!

Grandmother is in the hospital again. She fell twice in two days, and things are looking bad. Please pray for her.

I am excited about the Patriots - Colts game this weekend. This is going to be better than the Super Bowl. These are the two best teams in the NFL by far.

Keep the faith everyone. Trials make us stronger so stand your ground!

Down in the Dumps! (10/28/2007 05:38)

Normally when I feel the blues coming on I go into psyching myself out mode and just change the feeling. But this time, I am just going to complain about it for a while!

I believe that sometimes it is good to get in touch with those depressed feelings and experience them. Even though we have the power to change them. These feelings spring from somewhere, and I would like to fix the leak at the bottom of my mind.

Of course, I believe it is way easier to be negative than it is to do something positive. Going to the gym for example. It is way easier to stay in bed than to go to the gym. Once you get to the gym, it is way easier to just take a steam bath than it is to hit the equipment. And if you do psyche yourself out to hit the equipment, it is a lot easier to stop at 20 minutes than it is to go for an hour. This rationale never ends.

So life is obviously just trying to get us to waste away. It makes me think of being an over comer. We not only have to overcome the devil, and ourselves, but there is this stupid clock that never stops ticking. With every tick, a part of us dies.

Life seems to be in the vein of riding a bicycle up hill. When I pedal I make some progress, but when I stop pedaling, I am backsliding. What a quandary we are in!

What motivates us to pedal up hill? Passion. But what if the passion dies? Can we find it again?

I have lived life fully and accomplished lots of goals. I am at a point, where I think goals are pointless. Who cares if I work my butt off for 10 years and save a million dollars? That seems fruitless. Money is great and all, but I don’t want to be a slave to it. But then what do I want to be a slave to?

What did the preacher say about this?

Ecclesiastes 3:22 So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

So his advice is to enjoy our work. But what if the work I am doing sucks? I guess the preacher says to do something else. Make my vocation a vacation! Whatever!

I guess even King Solomon got into that “All is vanity” mode. Well at least it wasn’t beneath him. That makes me feel better.

If you buy the concept of living forever, then we better figure out a way to do something that makes us happy. Because forever is a very, very long time.

I wonder if someone would pay me to ride roller coasters? Hmm.. That seems like a job I could enjoy!

Ron Paul, the Media, and World War III (10/19/2007 01:00)
Big News is No News!

I am really disappointed with how the media is handling things nowadays. The media is practically ignoring Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s steady climb in popularity. However his internet presence is gaining strongly in spite of pock shots taken by the media. I was listening to freetalklive.com and it obvious that people who have never donated money before are donating to Ron Paul’s movement. Sooner or later the media is going to have to reckon with him. Go Ron Go!

Did you know that Israel sent a bombing raid on Syria September 6th? Of course not. That type of news could start a world war. It is amazing that probably the most news worthy story on the planet is being ignored my the mainstream media. Do you ever stop to wonder why? Did you ever stop to think that your information is filtered?

How about President Bush even uttering the words world war III? Has that sunk in?

My main point in this statement is not that we are living in perilous times. That is obvious. But that the media filters out over 90% of what is really going on. There is more news behind the news than what the news is letting us know. Did that confuse you?

Take illegal immigration as an example. Do you really think you know the whole story? This wasn’t even an issue until only recently. Why ? Even after September 11th, our borders were not really a concern. Why is it all of the sudden a concern? Why is it that now we suddenly have all of these experts talking about illegal immigrants draining our system? Could this be a politically driven concern? More than likely.

I think that pretty much all television is evil. It is a propaganda tool for lies. Think about it. Who is behind what comes through that little box wanting your money? Have you ever noticed that little box tries to manipulate you with fear? It will dumb you down, and make you believe it. If you believe it, then you will serve it. If you serve it you are then a slave to it. If you are a slave to it, then it is difficult to set yourself free.

Thinking precept upon precept is the way out. Take the truth and go from there. Dig yourself out of the pit of lies the world is throwing us all in to. I use the bible - it is like using a laser on butter. Of course you can try to dig yourself out with chop sticks. The choice is yours.

And now for a commercial! FEAR - FEAR - FEAR

Dallas Cowboys, HeartBreak Kid, and Government Brainwashing. (10/16/2007 11:01)
Cowboys

Well it looks like the Cowboys suffered their first loss of the season this week. I am disappointed of course, but I can’t say that I didn’t expect the Patriots to win. The Patriots have just been killing this year so far. While Dallas has been winning, they haven’t been as impressive as either the Colts or the Patriots. I haven’t watched every game this year but I think that Dallas may go to the NFC play offs. And if I was a gambling man I would bet that the Patriots will be facing the Colts for the AFC championship. They look like the best two teams in the league so far. The season is still early, someone else may step up and surprise me.

The HeartBreak Kid (D)

Ben Stiller was in a movie with Michelle Monaghan. I was very disappointed at the blatant lengthy sex scenes. I was with a friend and it was just torture. Once I got past that uncomfortable couple of scenes the movie just took a dive. It looked promising in the beginning, but then it just went to completely unfunny. I don’t suggest you see it. If you must see it, put it on your blockbuster cue somewhere near Sphere.

Government Brainwashing.

I must say, it takes quite a bit of reflection and soul searching to actually grasp the concept of Liberty. If a person is brought up in government schools and watches television, then they are bound to be biased in favor of government with all of its laws and programs. It took me a while to finally get that loving your neighbor means to lay off putting the yoke of the law around their neck.

I hear some people say that they want laws against parents smoking with kids in the car. I am all for parents not smoking with kids in the car, but come one, you can’t make that a law! Would you rather have the kids live in foster care?

If you are going to put the yoke of the law around your neighbors neck for smoking in the car with kids you might as well make spanking illegal, because some researches think it warps kid’s minds And you might as well make fast food illegal, because look at the obesity problem with children. And you might as well make cars illegal because of the toxins they spew out into the air near parks where our children play. We might as well have the government put cameras on our refrigerators to make sure that we are not feeding our children trans-fats at home. Get real America.

This is what bothers me about the current status of our country. People don’t think about the consequences of making stupid laws for what really should just be common sense. When we make laws, we are only creating jobs for bureaucrats and we are using coercion on the people we are supposed to love. Love thy neighbor! Choose Liberty!

Tony Romo, Pamela Anderson, and Grandmother! (10/09/2007 09:18)
Monday Night's Game was the best game I have seen in a very long time! I was on the edge of my seat the whole game!

Tony Romo was intercepted 5 times and he even fumbled one away. But the Cowboys pulled it out in the last second or two with a winning field goal! I am just floored at how Dallas can turn the ball over 6 times and still win!

Two of Romo's picks were returned for touchdowns, and the Bills also returned a kick off for a touch down. The Bills needless to say, looked unstoppable. The Cowboys were pretty much behind the whole game and pulled it off with a 53-yard field goal as time expired. This all happening after a nerve wracking, professionally executed, on-side kick!

It reminds me of the 23 times Roger Staubach " Captain Comeback" had pulled Dallas from behind in the fourth quarter. I have been a Dallas fan ever since the 70's. You know you are a genuine fan when you root for your team even in the bad years. It's like a marriage; you don't leave just because things suck. You keep donating knowing that your faithfulness will pay off. Maybe this is our year.

Do you think God is a Cowboy fan? After last night's comeback, I'm thinking so!

Pamela Anderson just married Paris Hilton's ex Rick Salomon. What a trip. How can she keep getting married? Is she competing with Elizabeth Taylor?

I think Rick is the guy that made the sex tape with Paris. These Hollywood stars need Jesus! It looks like they keep rushing into huge mistakes thinking they will find fulfillment (hmmm... reminds me of someone else I used to know!). Then eventually they hit bottom realizing that the voice telling them to repent was actually God. Oh well.

Grandmother update: She has had spinal surgery where her vertebrate was inflated with a couple of balloons. Then they injected some type of cement in there and basically fixed the whole thing immediately. She went from bed ridden with severe pain to being able to walk in one operation. Hooray for Balloon Kyphoplasty! Now it looks like some rehab time is coming into play. So keep her in your prayers!

Anyways, I am thinking about another Podcast. So get ready to strap on those headphones!

Up, Up, and away!

Life and the Sewer of the Word Parable. (09/29/2007 06:41)

Isn't it weird how things just seem to fall all to pieces when you are trying so hard not to rock the boat?

Here I am just silently trucking along, and then grandmother decides to fall and break her back! It is crazy. It just goes to show that stuff can come out of nowhere and just mess up things for ya!

She is in the hospital, and it must be really terrible. She wants to come home so badly that she is offering people money to take her home! Oh well, surgery next week, and then we’ll just have to wait and see.

For those of you that pray, right now would be a good time for grandma prayers!

I have another podcast on the way. They have been difficult to do because of the noise in the studio, and stuff has been interfering with my time.

I have been thinking about cultivating relationships. If you examine the sewer parable, you will see that the seed is obviously the Word of God and the field is obviously the world. The plants then are obviously people. If we are to take dominion over the earth and to make disciples, then we are to cultivate our relationships so that they bear good fruit.

It is like this. Jesus preached to a lot of people. However, a lot of them didn’t get it. And if I were to guess, I would say His hundredfold return was Peter James, and John. He cultivated relationships with them and constantly fed them the Word.

Kind of neat isn’t it?

Another thing. If you look at the life of Jesus, you will see that He was called, then He was baptized, then He was tested, then He did miracles, then He called disciples, then he cultivated disciples, and then they yielded fruit. The cycle then repeats. It is like ‘rinse, shampoo, and condition, repeat’!

The calling is similar to Moses’ call. And then the baptism is like passing from Egypt to the wilderness. Then the testing was done in the wilderness both for the children of Israel and also for Jesus. Then once the obedience was found through testing came the possession of the promise. Jesus made disciples for His kingdom. Israel started possessing the land. Both instances are so similar that it has to be an example for us.

Anyways, I talk a little about this in the podcast. It should be posted soon.

Is it a Demon or just your Imagination? (09/29/2007 06:46)

I have been thinking a lot lately about how certain churches seem to always be chasing demons. It has become very popular now days to blame everything on a demon. This leads to the individual absconding from his or her responsibility for their thoughts.

There are demons, but they are not usually the problem. I have seen people go up time and time again for deliverance in certain areas of their lives. This clearly means to me that this is not a demon at all but a stronghold of the imagination.

(2Co 10:4) For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,
(2Co 10:5)
pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ;

The words “imagination” and “knowledge” can clue you in that these strongholds being referred to could be aberrant thought patterns.

This is actually good news! You don’t have a demon! You have a bad habit!

In changing a habit, you must accept responsibility for that habit. Then you must change it. The idea is to communicate with your heart and find out what needs it is meeting at the sacrifice of your moral values. Once your mind, heart and gut all agree, then you can meet the needs of your deeper self by instilling a substitute behavior or thought pattern.

So not every problem you have is a demon. Now that you know that information, you can begin to change your thought patterns. Get with it!

Dallas Cowboys, Catherine Zeta Jones, and a Table Top! (09/29/2007 06:48)

Hey People!

I have been away for a bit - sorry!

Did anyone catch Dallas Putting the whoop on the Giants? I did!

Romo is such a fun guy to watch. It is like watching Bret Favre all over again! I thought Bret was going to be gone this year, but I saw that he played this weekend. Talk about a dynamo! I'm happy for him. Football just wouldn't be the same without Bret. IF and when Bret leaves we can all watch Tony Romo. He has a happy winning attitude and hopefully a winning season.

I haven't been mad about anything recently. I have been doing too much studying.

I finally broke down and ordered some Ayn Rand books. Let's see if I remember correctly, I am getting 'The Fountainhead', 'Atlas Shrugged' and something else. I read somewhere that next to the bible, the single author that has effected most people last century was Ayn Rand. Ok, so I am getting prepared to be blown away. But I understand that she was an atheist and supposedly thinks completely contrary to me. That's cool; I like opposing points of view. It makes me think. People don't think now days. Bunch of woosy people!

We all need challenging points of view. Jesus said we should build our house on a rock so when the storms come, our houses can stand it and not be washed away. I think of the Big Bad Wolf and the three little pigs when I read that verse. Do you?

Anytime I hear something new, I look at it like a table top. For instance if someone gives me a statement, I immediately look for supporting arguments. A table top without legs means you'll be eating on the floor! A table top with weak legs means you may be able to play cards, but you wouldn't put Mom's prize turkey dinner on there! A Table with steel legs means you can stand on it and change a light bulb! This goes hand in hand with "out of the mouths of two or three witnesses every word will be established". IF you have heard my podcast about pyramid theology it may give you a better idea of where I am coming from.

Have any of you guys listened to Juliana Theory? I think they are kind of unknown, but they rock. I am listening to the 'Emotion is Dead' album right now.

I saw a good movie - No Reservations (A-). I was really surprised at how good it was. Catherine Zeta Jones is in it, so I didn't turn down the opportunity to go. I knew it was going to be a chick flick, but I had seen everything else. Anyways, there is a lot of food in this film. Good food! The acting and story line are top notch. No embarrassing sex scenes either. An All around good film. Go see it with a chick!

I am at the studio right now. Bored. I thought instead of music I would post a blog.

Does anyone know of any good prophetic conferences coming up? Let me know!

Chow for now!

The Contract - review (A-) (08/18/2007 04:40)

Morgan Freeman squares it off with John Cusack

I am doing a lot of movie reviews on this blog recently. I didn't intend it to be this way, but I have been watching quite a few films recently out of boredom.

This was a good film. I like the fact that Morgan Freeman, plays a killer for hire in this film, but you still like him. As the movie develops, you see that he considers his job as just that - a job. We build sympathy for his character throughout the film and even his enemy John Cusack (the good guy) begins to display some affinity towards him albeit certainly at arms length.

The film starts out with a contract being put out on a billionaires life. Morgan Freeman and his team of mercenaries are out to do the job. They exude the confidence and professionalism that lets us know short of a miracle, that billionaire guy is gonna die!

Through a freak car accident, Morgan Freeman's character ends up in a hospital. And the events that follow lead him to crossing John Cusack's path with his son on a camping trip. John Cusack plays a coach that simply picked the wrong time to go camping. He just wanted to bond with his son. However now he is forced to bring Morgan Freeman to justice. The problem is that they are out in the wilderness with no cell signal, and Morgan Freeman's mercenaries are hot on the trail.

Needless to say it gets pretty hairy.

This is a surprisingly good film with all around good points. The writing was good, the story moved very well. It wasn't very predictable, and no stupid twists were taken. The ending was the kind that makes you smile.

The acting was nothing short of spot on. I really enjoy a film when you can't tell that the characters are acting. This is that type of film. No one is hamming it up, and no one is a novice. Even the mercenaries did a good job. The story drives with such force that all the actors have to do is just say their lines!

The scenery scores high points as well. There are some fabulous shots of the Washington State wilderness. It is breathtaking. A great place for an adventure story.

There is a little violence in this film. No sex. A glimpse of nudity.

All in all a good film.

Hot Fuzz - review (B-) (08/18/2007 07:03)

I was running out of movies and there it was in the new rental section at blockbuster. I quickly recognized the actor from Shaun of the Dead, and I remembered that being kind of funny so I rented it.

I was surprised by this film. I was expecting something completely nonsensical and stupid.

This is a comedy where the leading character is a very devoted police officer in London. He excels in every category of police work. So much so that the higher ups kick him out to this country town where there is no action at all. Or so they thought.

Our hero, Nicholas Angel, begrudgingly goes to this quiet country town, and before he even starts work, he is arresting people. The locals don't like that type of 'gung ho' attitude, especially since he arrested his soon to be partner for being drunk.

This town seems to be having a lot of accidents, and Nicholas Angel begins smelling foul play. The rest of the film is basically of him trying to unravel the mysteries of these accidents and the movie takes some unexpected turns.

One of the things that impressed me is the writing. There were some clever references to early dialogue that seemed to work well.

One of the things I didn't like was once the 'who dunnit' plot was discovered, it wasn't very believable, but nevertheless it was entertaining. I didn't turn it off just because it started getting silly.

When I was snooping around a little, I found that Simon Pegg actually co-wrote this flick as well as starred in it. I don't remember seeing him in too many things, but he has an extensive filmography.

Quite a bit of violence in this film. So be careful if that bothers you. Otherwise, enjoy a whacky comedy!

Isla Fisher, Sissy Spacek, and Linda Blair! (08/12/2007 05:00)
Isla Fisher is How Old?

Nezha and Isla Fisher at the Babel premiere party (with Sasha Baron Cohen in the background!)
(Isla is on the right!)

I just saw Hot Rod (c).

It was pretty lame unless maybe you are a Napoleon Dynamite fan. Anyways, I was looking up the characters and Isla Fisher looks like she might possibly be 22 in this movie. However she was born in 1976! So if my math is right, that would make her around 32! WHolllllyyy Toledo! I would never, ever, ever, in a million years guess that she was that old. Not that 32 is old by any stretch of the imagination! Seriously, I want to know what vitamins she takes and what her diet is.

Sissy Spacek didn't have much of a part in this film. It seemed way beneath her to even be a part of this flick. You know, i never really liked her. Ever since Carrie, I just wrote her off. That was just too gross of a film, and that stigma stuck in my mind for years. I have read reviews about her being a great actress, but who cares? She's Carrie!

However Sissy Spacek's career has done very well in spite of my never ever forgetting that she is Carrie. To date she has over 50 credits in her filmography. That is pretty good don't ya think?

One interesting tidbit, she was born on Christmas in 1949. Can you imagine the bummer of being born on Christmas day? That means that you don't have that extra birthday somewhere in the middle of the year to suck you parents bank accounts dry. And you probably won't have your friends over for your birthday party
because they are too busy getting Christmas gifts themselves!

I wonder if her parents planned that somehow.

I sometimes am amazed at how I miss things like this. If you think about Linda Blair, I thought her career would be ruined because of the Exorcist. Who can forget her head spinning around and spewing out green vomit? That has to be ingrained in the minds of millions of people. Now that has to be a negative stigma if there ever was one right?

However Linda has over 60 credits in her filmography. It looks like a lot of it was television, but at least she got some work right?

Ok so Isla, if you read this, I expect an email with your vitamins and diet.

Sissy, and Linda, hey keep it up. I wrote you off and I was wrong.

Put that in your mouth and spew it!
Rush Hour 3 (B) (08/11/2007 11:16)

Well at last it finally came. I was so excited. I went out with friends and saw it on Thursday night at midnight.

I was disappointed. The story line was not very original and the bad guy was easily discovered - especially if you watched the first two.

The action was somewhat of a let down if you have been following Jackie Chan's career. I was expecting a lot more mouth dropping stunts that would rival the Bourne Ultimatum, or maybe Die Hard. There were some tense moments on the Eiffel Tower that got me rocking back and forth in my seat though.

Chris Tucker is faithful to his character and it leads to a couple of distasteful scenes. One where he manipulates girls to undress, another where he solicits a hottie with a little over dramatic seductive language. However distasteful it may be, it is in line with his character, so I can't really subtract points there.

I would like to see Jackie make another move with Owen Wilson to sequel the Shanghai series. It wasn't just about stunts in those films. It may appear to be awkward to some people, but I thought Jackie and Owen had a good chemistry in those films. I can only hope.

Hang in there Jackie. I still think you are great. This one just didn't meet what I know you are capable of!
Hey! Lonelygirl15 and a Whale Movie! (08/07/2007 04:13)

I know who killed me (C-)

I had to beat some traffic and this show just happened to start at rush hour, so I went!

This has to be one of the worst films I have ever seen. The plot seems like it could have gone somewhere, but they hack it to pieces. Without giving too much away, the clues that identify the murderer are very ambiguous. The subplot with the boyfriend goes no where. Lindsay is not a believable leading character in this role. Her character simply doesn't get my sympathy. There is a gratuitous sex scene which really isn't as blatant as others are out there, but it is still in there for not much of a reason.

One interesting thing is that lonelygirl15 of Youtube has a small part in this film. No wonder Bree dies. I thought I recognized her in the film. My mouth totally dropped. I guess youtube might make a few people famous after all. Way to go Bree! I mean Jessica Rose!

Mozart and the Whale (2005) (B+)

I almost gave this an A. Josh Hartnett nearly comes off as a believable autistic in this one. It may not be that he did a bad job, cause i actually think he did a pretty good job. My problem is that I have seen him in too many other movies to actually swallow the autistic bit. So you would probably give this one an 'A' - knowing you.

Radha Mitchell does a very good job. I found myself trying to define where her crazy began and sane ended.

If you haven't guessed, the film is a love story about two people with a rare form of autism.

It has some nice twists and turns, and tugged at my heart strings more than once. I am not one for love stories, but this one was a good one. There are a few subtle life lessons in there that i liked. If you are prone to cute love stories, then this is for you.

Don't forget - Rush Hour 3 comes out Thursday at midnight!

Bourne Ultimatum and Chuck & Larry (08/04/2007 04:24)
I saw a couple of great movies.

I caught the midnight showing and was not disappointed to loose the sleep. The plot picks up nicely from the previous two movies and the action is absolutely amazing. Bourne slaps around bad guys and cops like they were first graders on smack!

I like the uniqueness of Bourne's character compared to other spy characters. He is too busy kicking butt for us to develop a relationship with him in this film. You pretty much already have to like him and sympathize with him from the previous two films. For a minute you think there might be some romance, but hey, Bourne has his hands full kicking butt. No time for romance really. There might be some romance later??? Julia Stiles seems to be leaving the door open for Mr. Bourne. Knock Jason - I would!

I really like the professional aura exuded by all the characters in this film. They all did a fantastic job looking and acting professional. It had an air similar to that of Alias or 24.

If you like action, and spy movies with a good easy to follow story line - see this film.

BY the way, no sex in this film.
I was really looking forward to this film, but I had my reservations from some of Adam Sandler's earlier crude films. 50 First Datess, and Click were good movies, but there was just too much vulgarity in them for me. So you can imagine my apprehensions when he is coming out with a film about a couple pretending to be gay.

I was very pleasantly surprised.

I was expecting an overt gay message, but it wasn't the 'down your throat' message that I was prepared to endure. This movie actually explores the possibility of men loving each other in a sense like David loved Jonathan in the bible. Their love surpassed the love of women, which basically means that it is stronger than even that of a marriage. With Jonathan and David, we see that Jonathan was willing to even succumb his right to be king for David's sake. Here we see something similar with two New York City fire-fighters which face danger quite often, and when they do they face it with each other. It is comparative to battle, and they quite often back each other up and save each other's lives. This in turn generates a relationship of love between two men - without sex! I guess the closest love to this type is brotherly love. If you don't understand what I am trying to say, go see the movie, it makes my point very well.

The characters find that good intentions have unintended consequences. So what seems like a good low risk idea, turns out to be more of a tight rope walk than the heroes expect. However, good triumphs in the end and the move resolves quite well.

Some of the scenes are a bit cheesy, and you definitely are clued in to the fact that Chuck and Larry aren't gay. No flat out sex scenes, but there are some PG-13 type moments.

The cast is amazing!

I loved this film.

Approval Addiction, gossip, and making up my bed! (08/01/2007 09:47)
I have been wondering....

Why are people so preoccupied with silly things? Why is it the most important stuff in the world to one person is utter nonsense to another?

There are people totally caught up in the rat race of seeking the approval of others. This phenomenon rules their lives. Their homes are tidy and totally spotless all the while they are constantly making excuses for how messed up it is. They spend an inordinate amount of time getting ready for work. You know like hours putting on makeup and making sure the clothes are suitable. They work out not for the basic health benefits, but so they look hot.

I guess it doesn't bother me that much until they start trying to force their philosophy on me. The one thing about these people is that they don't spend much time thinking or reflecting at all. Basically if you don't study philosophy then you are going to have a bad one. You will major on the minors.

These people are more concerned with the appearance of an object rather than it's functionality. Take a bed for example. Theoretically, beds are to sleep in. Your eyes are supposed to be closed while you are in one. Who really cares what it looks like since your eyes are closed? However to the approval addict, this issue is of monumental importance. If there is a wrinkle on the bed spread, then someone may possible see it and give them some type of Egbert's "thumbs down".

Mathematically (ROI), this has to be a monumental waste of time. If you take the total amount of time spent on making up a bed and divide that by the time someone actually comes to your room to see the made up bed, this has to be some ridiculously large number like 500 hours per every peek or something. Unless you are a total tramp and strangers are always looking at your bed.

If you have someone that is sleeping with you, then why do you need approval? You have already captured them! Unless you need to continuously seek their approval so they don't leave you! What a trap you have laid for yourself!

I have also noticed that these people spend a lot of money on watches. THis can range from the hundreds to thousands of dollars! And guess what - ALL THEY DO IS TELL THE TIME!

I had this cool Casio watch one time that I spent a couple of hundred bucks on, and it could not only tell time, but it was an altimeter, barometer, dual chronometer, and a magnetic compass! That blows away spending a few K just to look at some rocks!

Approval addicts are really the people you need to avoid. You can't make real friends with them because they are so superficial. These are the type of people that will talk about you behind your back to the other approval addicts. They elevate their approval rating in the eyes of others by cutting you down. This is what they think anyways. In my opinion, when the gossip starts, it is time to hit the door.

I hate gossip. It is such a waste of time and is basically a sign of an empty life. If someone has the time and ability to gossip about someone, then they are living a fruitless life themselves. Think about it. Have you ever seen someone gossip that actually has something on the ball? If so, then they are probably approval addicts trying to climb their ladders of approval and we need to redefine what success ('on the ball') actually is.

I think success is more defined by something internal. You know, when YOU KNOW when you did good, regardless of what others may think or say. I often reflect on the prophets in the bible, and basically they were sent to congregations or governments, and they all got whacked by the people they were trying to help. A lot of them got killed, but guess what - WE READ ABOUT THEM STILL THOUSANDS OF YEARS LATER!

I saw that movie with BradPitt, Troy. He said something to a kid in that film that has just stuck with me. "That is why no one will remember your name". Achilles did some crazy stuff. I like to think that he did it because he had some internal guidance. In the movie, you can plainly see that he doesn't seek the approval of others. I wonder if that is close to accurate. The kid he was speaking to was telling Achilles that he would be afraid to fight such a fierce warrior (Achilles had a fight lined up). Achilles shrugs the boy's comment off and confirms his own identity by doing what others are afraid to do.

If I had any advice, it would be not to seek the approval of others, but to seek the approval of Jesus. His approval is really the only one that counts. We must long to hear "Well done!"

Are there flies in your milk?

I just published another podcast. As I was doing the research it shocked me how many pastors there are that don’t believe basic biblical precepts such as the virgin birth, resurrection, inspired scriptures etc…

Here’s a couple of links for your musing:

Less than 50% of pastors have a biblical worldview.

This one’s older but it is still kind of shocking. 1967 Hadden survey “infidels in the pulpit!”

It is no wonder that false doctrines creep in! It is shocking to think that these large percentages of pastors are not on the same page as Jesus! Don’t forget there are going to be MANY FALSE PROPHETS leading MANY astray. That is opposite of THE FEW! Which category do you fit in?

I guess you don’t want to drink your milk with flies in it right? So be sure and check what your pastors say with the bible. Reagan said, “Trust but verify”. That is a pearl of wisdom right there!

Oh yeah, if you listen to the podcast, I was talking kind of fast to get all my thoughts in before someone could get noisy, or the 30 minute marker was up. I apologize, but at least I didn’t cut it into two episodes! So chill out, strap on your seat belt of truth, and put on your helmet of salvation while I pry open your mind! WARNING - I have effective crowbars!

Anyways,

I showered with strangers today!

I thought that might grab your eye! LOL

I was at the gym today, and I was thinking to myself about the compromises we make for the sake of our flesh! I would never shower with a bunch of strangers, but at a gym, it is common course. Gotta work out right?

It is kind of like, slowly slipping into that ‘R’ rating just because there are no good ‘G’ films. Hey – I’m guilty! But at least I am slowing down on the films!

Speaking of films:

Die Hard! Live Free or Die Hard!

Go see it! It really measures up to the other ones. I really like the apple computer guy Justin Long. He added some interesting flavor to the mix and did an excellent job complementing Bruce Willis.

Not much profanity, and if there was sex I don’t remember it! (That’s a first!)

I think I like the fact that Bruce Willis’ character is more directed by a moral compass than bowing down to a chain of unprincipled bureaucratic authority. Albeit I am not sure it is the same moral compass of compassion and love Christians are supposed to have. It’s more like the adrenal moral compass – which makes for great film!

The motto is the great Libertarian motto for the state of New Hampshire.

Of course that means I have to plug the FREE STATE PROJECT! They have the idea of getting a lot of libertarians to move to the state in order to influence its politics. If you are for liberty, then you need to check it out! Or you can just stay in bondage – it’s up to you!

Vista – blessing and a curse!

I got a new puter and it has Vista 64. It is a rocking computer! Vista is an efficient operating system with a few nifty features that I haven’t figured out yet. But what is immediately apparent is that not all of my old software will migrate to Vista from XP!

This is extremely frustrating. And I feel somewhat cheated, so I wanted to pass the warning on to you. If you are thinking about getting the Vista operating system, please do your homework!

Check with your software manufacturer’s web sites and see if they can be run efficiently under Vista. Don’t forget you may need drivers for your external equipment that you may have hooked up via USB or firewire.

Well chow for now. I like comments. Bring ‘em on!

OH yeah – did I mention my PODCAST???

Im Back! Did ya Miss me?????

Yeah I know, I’m sorry for those of you that missed me. I just had to take a break for a while.

I have a Podcast now. For those of you who like to listen to me rant, than simply read it. So far I have done a few bible studies. Do you have any idea how hard it is to promote a new podcast with in depth bible studies?

It looks like I am going to have to go back to the type of stuff I do here at Conrads Concerns.

(Anyways!)

Senate immigration bill suffers crushing defeat

You know, I am getting sick of this whole illegal immigration thing. There is no way to solve the problem. And quite honestly, I am disappointed with all the Christians that are mad about the immigrants. Their arguments are selfish and do not fall into the category of the BIG 10 – LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR!

They are not taking our jobs. Go and see if you can get someone to pay you sub minimum wage for picking cotton. I bet you will find that you can get that job pretty easily.

The culture is not disappearing. Ok well, maybe it is. But what is the big deal? I mean we took this place from the Indians. Who really cares about the culture anyway? I like burritos! I think Latin women are hot!

There is nothing you can do about it anyway! Unless you have a Hitler complex, there is really nothing you can do. They are already here. They multiply faster than the average American family. You can see that the Hispanic birth rate is higher than the rest of the population. So the culture is going to be gone anyway. Maybe we should just accept the inevitable and stop labeling people as ‘illegal’.

Why are we still in Iraq?

Didn’t the democrats get elected for a reason? I love America, and I love our troops. I think that they are doing the best they know how. But now it is time to do something different. Obviously those people don’t want us over there, or they wouldn’t be willing to go through such lengths to kill us. We have people dying every day over there. And I would feel a little better about it if the dots were clearly connected to the defense of America.

It looks like we are rattling a hornet’s nest. This action we are taking over there is causing the rest of the world to really dislike us. And the Muslim community is obviously taking this as a religious war. I know, we are trying to keep it simple by calling them radical, and extreme, but there sure are a lot of those radical and extreme people willing to kill themselves just to get a few of us. It looks to me like radical and extreme is becoming mainstream.

Paris is out of Jail!

Wouldn’t the headline be a lot cooler if it said:

Paris, Lindsay and Britney all in rehab!

Or maybe throw ‘lesbian’ in the title somewhere??

Yeah I watched the Larry King interview. I was not impressed. I think America is too preoccupied with useless crap. Isn’t there something else to do? This is the symptom of a fat country. We are fat and complacent about real issues, and are preoccupied with fairy tale people.

If there are points given out in heaven, I don’t think there are going to be too many points given for watching Television!

Run Paris Run! Be Free little rich girl!

Outlaw the 'n-word'?

This has got me steaming. I can’t believe that Americans spit on the blood spilled for our liberties.

The Mayor of Brazoria wants to outlaw the n-word. I understand where he is coming from; it is offensive and totally unnecessary. Nevertheless it is protected by the first amendment to the constitution.

Maybe he hasn’t read the constitution. I thought public officials were sworn to uphold the constitution? Doesn’t that mean they have to read it? Apparently they have socialist or fascist agendas and lie to get power and recognition.

Why do we Americans cheerfully place the shackles of oppression upon ourselves? Do we not realize that if we outlaw the N-word, next will come homosexual slurs, and then comes religious slurs, and the cycle will never end?

People in America can’t think past their nose! Prosperity has made Americans stupid, lazy and now - socialist!

The people that chant “separation of church and state” (not in the constitution by the way!) are going to love this law. Pretty soon we will not be able to have a discussion about religion on public property. Then we won’t be able to talk about God in restaurants (unless they have Keno!). This will in turn lead to saying ‘Jesus’ offends some people everywhere so proselytizing will be outlawed!

Americans must value the liberty of our neighbors. Or when our neighbors are in power they will reciprocate the shackles of tyranny upon us.

However…

I believe I have a work around for this law. Every time you bigots feel like using the N-word, just pick up a blunt object and hit everyone within earshot! This way at least you can be sure you committed an actual crime and have moved out of the realm of Free Speech!

Irony of Law

Ok so it is illegal to smoke in omaha in a restaurant unless you have keno? Hmmm... It is illegal to gamble on the Internet but you can play keno?

So we have the right to bear arms according to the bill of rights, but if we bear arms we will be arrested? Hmmm...

Our forefathers framed the constitution that we would govern ourselves according to the ten commandments. There are no laws in the bible to prevent crime, only to punish it.

Why are there laws now focusing on preventing crime?

If we could bear arms like the bill of rights says, then these lunatics shooting up the schools would have been stopped way before they killed innocent people.

I am not a smoker, but why can't the owner of the establishment determine whether they want to allow smoking or not?

If Internet gambling is wrong, why isn't the lottery wrong?

STOP MAKING STUPID LAWS PROHIBITING OUR FREEDOM!

What if Man Lived 1000 years?

I haven’t made an entry in a while and just wanted to post something I was pondering recently.

I wonder what would happen if people lived at least 1,000 years. Adam and Eve lived for about that long atime if I remember correctly. One would think their life was probably tilling the ground, planting gardens, and just walking around and plucking some fruit every once in a while.

Anyways, we can see that in the first millennium cities were being built. They must have been busy. But what made them achieve those ends? God told them to “be fruitful and multiply”. I remember He also wanted them to fill the earth. Cities were possibly contrary to God‘s intention, because people congregated in centralized locations thus not ‘filling’ the earth. It also seems that cities were problematic in regards to sin. Think of Nineveh,Sodom, Gomorrah, and Tyre. It is interesting that God post -flood made a point of judging the cities for iniquity and conversely rewarding the prophets that spent long times in solitude. God must not hang out in cities so much! I guess I need to go camping more often!

We know that God destroyed those people that were living in the first millennium with the great flood. Obviously, things were not improving with long life! I guess that iniquity was simply getting worse with time.

I wonder what man would learn in a few hundred years that he wouldn’t learn in the first 80?

On a positive note, I’d like to believe that man would realize the futility of trying to change someone else to his or her liking and just work on changing themselves and the way they respond to things. Perhaps the futility of making a living would give way to prudent investing. Maybe we wouldn’t let our emotions be our guide so much as working on our character and leaving a legacy behind.

It is apparent that if people don’t have goals, the days just tick by letting boredom enter in. I suppose that breed of people would just watch TV and become products of that life. They would probably get more and more bound up in believing what they see, instead of what’s behind what they see. It stands to reason that those zombies would just get worse and end up slaves to the opportunist thinkers who would amass themselves to take advantage. The intelligence gap would eventually become so vast that the TV watchers would consign themselves unwittingly to slavery.

What about serial killers? If they lived 1000 years, they would either quit after a while, or get worse. If they got worse, then they would improve at their craft, or get caught. It seems a trend that iniquities only increase with time. So the evil that they began with would fade in comparison to the evil they may well become in a thousand years. This means we could possibly get entangled again with the reasoning behind the initial flood - right?

I wonder what would happen with government? I have noticed that our country has a really short-term memory, repeating the same mistakes over and over again. And I have also noticed that government only increases in laws and they always eventually fail. All governments have failed. I wonder if1000-year-old wisdom could prevent governments from failing?

What about wisdom? Could you imagine the likes of Einstein, Newton, Hawking, Edison, Bell, Tesla,Faraday, and Leonardo living a thousand years? They would all be contemporaries! Imagine giving all those guys simultaneous Internet access? It would be astounding what they would accomplish! Their underlying precepts of their respective disciplines would only increase giving birth to inventions many times more astounding than what we see now.

I guess that our resources would prove to be finite too. All those added dead people (for the last 1000years) being alive would significantly increase the population, thus draining our resources. By now we would probably be mining other planets, terraforming Mars, and having cities on the ocean floor. Who knows?

Maintaining the thought of finite resources. If we didn’t solve that problem quickly enough, then territorial battles would eventually ensue. Add to that the weapons created by the worlds greatest minds as well as the evil that only increases with time - I can only conclude that we would blow ourselves up unless we scattered to other planets in time.

Oh well, this question will never be answered. We know that God removed the tree of life so that man wouldn’t live forever in his sinful nature. I am sure He knows what’s up! He’s been around for more than1000 Years!
